Equality Without Borders mobilizes strategic philanthropy to support LGBTQI equality, addressing historical underfunding, especially in the Global South and East, and aligning donor interests with critical movements for safety and rights.The Need
We focus on the significant lack of funding for LGBTQI issues globally, aiming to bolster support for organizations striving for equality, legal recognition, and enhanced safety in underrepresented regions.The Solution
We organize annual donor meetings, manage a pooled fund, and offer direct funding opportunities to vetted LGBTQI projects, enhancing global equality movements through strategic philanthropy.Our Impact
Equality Without Borders has facilitated over $17.7 million in donations to more than 88 organizations in over 50 countries, funding safety and security, movement-building, and policy campaigns for non-discrimination, legal recognition, and marriage equality.Equality Without Borders has supported basic capacity building, safety and security, and capital purchase grants for organizations in both resource-poor countries and for marginalized populations such as youth, transgender, intersex, individuals and women. We have also supported specific campaigns to achieve policy goals such as non-discrimination protections, decriminalization of homosexuality, LGBTQ-related referendum campaigns, legal gender recognition, and marriage equality and other relationship recognition.
