Our Mission
Established in 2017, Teach For Cambodia's vision is that one day, all children in Cambodia can attain an excellent education. The goal is to make a significant contribution to the rebuilding of a nation still suffering the effects of genocide in the 1970s.The Need
90% of the country’s 10-year-olds are unable to read a simple sentence with comprehension. 73% of teachers in the basic education system have only completed lower or upper secondary education, while only 26% have a bachelor’s degree or higher, and they receive little or no professional development.The Solution
Teach For Cambodia is working to rebuild the dignity of the teaching profession and grow trust within the education system. It has placed its bet on recruiting, training, and supporting high-potential young Cambodians to teach in high-need schools, transforming children's lives through education.Our Impact
Teach For Cambodia has 32 teacher leaders and 83 alumni who have taught in the provinces of Kampong Chhnang, Kandal, and Phnom Penh. They have reached over 30,000 students ages 8 to 10 from marginalized communities. Over 90% of alumni are improving access and quality of education for all children.Cambodian children experienced great adversity and learning loss during COVID-19, especially those from the most marginalized communities. Now it is the resilience of the entire education community, especially teachers such as Teach for Cambodia (TFC) Fellows, that enables the recovery of millions of students and their ongoing learning in the post-pandemic era. However, recovery is challenging, and we cannot do this alone.
